Ricardo O'Nascimento is an artist, researcher, and innovator whose work bridges interactive art, wearable technology, and sustainability. Focusing on exploring the relationship between humans and their surroundings through technology, O'Nascimento's creations often tackle themes of sensory experience, embodied interaction, and the integration of digital and physical worlds.
Ricardo O'Nascimento's works have garnered international recognition and have been exhibited in prestigious venues and events worldwide. His innovative approach has earned him several awards and residencies, such as the Interactive Art Prize at the Japan Media Arts Festival and a residency at the V2_ Institute for the Unstable Media in Rotterdam. Notable exhibitions include Ars Electronica in Austria, FILE Festival in Brazil, and the Dutch Design Week in the Netherlands.
Beyond his artistic practice, Ricardo O'Nascimento is an active researcher and educator. He holds a degree in International Relations from PUC – SP (Brazil), multimedia design from SENAC – SP (Brazil), and a master's in arts from the University of Arts and Industrial Design Linz (Austria) at the Interface Culture Department. His PhD focused on methods for ideating and developing future touch-based technologies. Currently, as a Postdoctoral researcher in human and material experiences at the Materials Science Research Centre at the Royal College of Art, he investigates textile and apparel consumers' needs and develops compelling experiences that engage them to be active participants in a circular textile economy. His research interests span tangible interfaces, multisensory experience research and design, wearable computing, and the implications of technology for human wellbeing and society.
